Media Release:

“ 15000 Observers of SA Democracy

Date: 30 December 2013

Time : 10 am

We welcome you to the launch of Hola Bon Renaissance (HBR) Foundation's Observers programme for the 2014 National General Election, Titled “15 000 Observers of SA Democracy” and our motto “Observing and legitimizing democracy” which is the 14th programme launched by HBR since its existence in the year 2000, and official registered in 2004.

As we enter a new progressive year 2014, a new dawn, and a new world order. It is imperative that we civil organizations in the country and the world over, play an active role in any democracy, independently without government and political alignment, as defenders, advocators, observers and legitimizes of democracy.

We stand in response to a call that says “A new world will be achieved not by those who stand at a distance with their arms folded, but by those who are in the arena, whose garments are torn by storms and whose bodies are maimed in the course of the contest”.

HBR proclaims 2014 to be the year the people of this country and the world join hands in celebrating South Africa’s 20 years of democracy, a democracy forged by all race, genders, nations, it was earned by South Africans who served, sacrificed and survived to be where we are today as  a nation, as  Africans and human race in general in the world.

HBR  FOUNDATION during the course of the year 2013, applied to the IEC for an observer's  role and has underwent all due processes, for it today to proudly pronounce to the nation and the world, that HBR Foundation is an IEC Accredited Observer for 2014 national elections.

An apostle once said “When there are many lacking decency, there are always others who have decency of many, they are the ones who rebel with terrible forces against the robbers of their people’s freedom- hence robbers of their decency. Such men are the embodiment of thousands, of a whole people, of human dignity.” -Apostle Jose Marti. It is in this regard we opted to rise to embody democracy, we carry as patriots of this country, our SA flag and its constitution high for the very first time as a civil organization. Hence our mission is to recruit and deploy 15 000 men and women in the country and anywhere else in the world to observe and legitimize the 20th year of democracy in a free, fair and transparent democratic South Africa.

The Foundation is undergoing a process to appoint the National Observer Committee (NOC) and the announcement of the NOC members will be on 20 January 2014, the NOC will embark on full preparation of the 2014 elections.

Guided by the programme aims which are to:

ü    Observe the democratic process

ü    Affirm free, fair and transparent  elections

ü    Validate counting of votes

ü    Report all activities of the elections

ü    Confirms the announcement of elections results

ü    Legitimize the 2014 elections

HBR’s elections observing strategy will have 1 observer for every 2 - 3 voting stations across the country, and within 72 hours after counting of votes, we would have reconfirm the legitimate votes and announcement of election results.

The national general 2014 elections activities and rollout of the strategy will be outlined in due course by the NOC, which includes the infrastructures, systems and processes, operations, website, recruiting and deployment strategy, media strategy, fund-raising strategy and all other activities related to 2014 elections.

Hence we are on a campaign to request private, public and international donors to assist us to realize our national call of duty as observers and continual realization of the dream and aspiration made by the laid former president Nelson Mandela and many South Africans that advocated for a democratic and a free society.

When he said:"I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons will live together in harmony with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for, and to see realized. But my Lord, if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."- Nelson Mandela
